History

IRL

I first drew Boots while drawing Willow in January 2026, not even meaning to create a new character. I was trying to decide where to put the eyes in Willow's main body, to ensure they weren't an afterthought, but I liked the weird pattern it made, so I added markings at the bottom of the legs to look like 'boots' and to the tip of the tail so they would look different enough from Willow! I also decided to make his eye colour be blue instead with the dark half being over the light half (the opposite of Willow's eye, which is light above dark!)

The same day, I knew I needed to think up how these two came to be, how they're eldritch, and how they're siblings. Which led me to think up their parent Non! (pronounced like the 'non' in 'non-issue' or 'non-existent')

Fictional

Non is an eldritch embodiment of shadows who saw the worst of the worst and decided to make something good because of it. In fact, it decided to make two good things at the same time, leading Willow and Boots to not have one that's older and one that's younger between them!

At some point, Willow met another semi-eldritch critter, and later introduced them to Boots. They became quick friends, partially thanks to Mono having the opposable thumbs necessary to cook and bake! While Willow loves to stop by their house and grab a treat, Boots has much less of a sweet tooth. Mono themself has no need to eat, as well as no mouth to. They find the process of making food enjoyable, second only to the positive reactions of those who get to eat it.
They're good friends, even if they're not outright besties!

I don't have enough for Non or Mono yet, but I'm working on getting stuff ready for both their pages! (Mono will likely get theirs before Non does, since they have a solid design and Non is literally just Shadows Incarnate without a solid design yet)
